The All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) has released fresh images showcasing its resounding victory in the Si Myo Thein battle. According to a recent statement, joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), ABSDF, and KPDF successfully captured the Myanmar Military Council’s 319th, 601st, and 352nd Battalions in Mansi Myo, Kachin State, on January 8, 2025. In addition to this remarkable victory, the coalition forces have seized large quantities of weapons and ammunition.
This victory comes after a month-long offensive that began on December 4, 2024. The operation was led by the 11th Brigade of the KIA, alongside the 2nd Battalion and 10th Battalion of the ABSDF (Student Army). Their well-coordinated efforts resulted in the total capture of strategic Myanmar Military Council battalions in Mansi Myo.
The battle for Mansi Township initially began in May 2024 but was suspended due to various challenges. However, the latest offensive launched by the joint forces proved decisive. The successful attack on the remaining SDF troops in the area not only secured the region but also significantly boosted the coalition’s arsenal with a large cache of captured weapons.
