Tensions in Myanmar continue to escalate as rebel forces launched a mortar attack on the Karenni State War Council (WCC) Regional Command Headquarters in Dakasa, Loikaw. On the day of the attack, two 107 mm mortar shells struck the headquarters, marking a bold move by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM).

According to reports, six out of seven mortar shells were successfully fired by the rebel forces during the mission. Despite facing significant challenges, all soldiers involved in the operation managed to retreat to safety. An official from BWM issued a stark warning to WCC members and leaders, including Soe Win, stating, “Those who are cruel to the people are no longer safe.”

The extent of the damage and casualties suffered by the WCC remains unclear. The targeted attack underscores the growing unrest and resistance against military-affiliated groups in Myanmar, as citizens and organized forces demand justice and the end of oppressive governance.

This incident highlights the fragile state of peace and security in the region, with mounting conflicts reflecting deep-rooted grievances against military control. The WCC, a key strategic command in the region, is now under increased scrutiny and pressure following the attack.

Global observers are closely monitoring the situation, as Myanmar’s ongoing strife continues to draw attention to the urgent need for dialogue and resolution. The mortar attack is a reminder of the volatility in the region and the heightened risks for those involved in the conflict.
