NUG Launches Multilingual News Broadcast Targeting Key Regional Audiences

The National Unity Government (NUG) has launched a test run of its biweekly public and international news program in four languages: Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Hindi. According to U Nay Bone Lat, spokesperson for the NUG Union Prime Minister’s Office, this initiative aims to enhance the NUG’s communication efforts and strengthen its influence on global and regional platforms.

The pilot broadcast started with Japanese and Chinese as part of the 1/2025 news program in early January 2025. By the 2/2025 program on January 21, the NUG had expanded the broadcast to include Thai and Hindi, reflecting its focus on neighboring countries and regions with significant political impact on Myanmar.

Targeting Neighboring and Influential Nations

“In this initial phase, we are prioritizing languages from neighboring countries and those with political significance to Myanmar. This project is being refined by individuals with expertise, but we still need to work with organizations to expand its reach effectively,” said U Nay Bone Lat.

Collaboration and AI Integration

The multilingual broadcast is a joint effort between PVTV and Team New Myanmar (Japan). It combines human efforts and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to create an engaging and accessible program for diverse audiences. PVTV has encouraged viewers to provide constructive feedback to improve the program further.

Regional and Global Impact

The NUG’s strategic approach to multilingual broadcasts reflects its dedication to amplifying its message globally. By expanding into Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Hindi, the NUG seeks to strengthen ties with key nations, foster support for its democratic cause, and highlight the ongoing challenges in Myanmar.
