The announcement revealed that the Chin Nyi Naung forces seized hundreds of weapons, including howitzers and ammunition, during the operation. The footage also showed the rescue of 13 political prisoners and the capture of numerous military council prisoners of war.
The battle for Min Taung Township began on November 9 as part of a larger offensive in Falam Township. After a month and a half of intense combat, Chin Nyi Naung secured victory, forcing the military council members from Kanpetlet Township to flee. As of December 21, both Min Taung and Kanpetlet Townships have been fully liberated.
With this success, revolutionary forces now control Min Taung, Kanpetlet, and Kyin Dwe Townships, effectively freeing southern Chin State from the grip of the military junta. The victory underscores the growing strength and strategic coordination of resistance forces working to dismantle military rule across the region.
The complete liberation of southern Chin State is a significant milestone in Myanmar’s struggle for democracy and federal governance. It highlights the determination of revolutionary forces and inspires hope for further successes in the broader fight against military dictatorship.
