Myanmar Military Airstrikes Hit Mindat Amid Earthquake Crisis

500-Pound Bombs Strike Chin State Town

On April 1, 2025, the Myanmar military council’s air force carried out two airstrikes on Mindat, Chin State, dropping 500-pound bombs at 6:25 PM and 10:30 PM, according to local organizations.

These attacks came while Myanmar was still reeling from a devastating earthquake centered near Sagaing and Mandalay, which caused widespread destruction and required urgent rescue efforts.

No Casualties, But Buildings Damaged

Despite the heavy bombing, there were no reported casualties as residents had already evacuated due to ongoing conflict. However, several buildings and houses sustained significant damage.

Salai Yaoman, head of the Mindat Township People’s Administration, stated:

“There were no casualties because the area was empty, but the airstrikes caused damage to homes and infrastructure.”

Residents Urged to Stay Alert

Following the airstrikes, the Mindat Township People’s Administration issued a warning, urging residents to remain vigilant and prepared for further attacks.

With Myanmar still facing an earthquake disaster, the military’s continued offensives have raised serious concerns about humanitarian efforts and the safety of civilians in conflict-affected areas.
