The National Unity Government (NUG) Interim President, Duwal Shila, has stated that the Military Council, which has already lost control of two military regions, is on the verge of losing more regional commands. This statement was made in Shila’s Christmas message on December 24, 2024.
Shila highlighted the recent losses of the Northeastern Regional Command (NORC) and the Western Regional Command (WRC), marking significant setbacks for the Military Council. These defeats are seen as part of a broader pattern of struggles faced by the military regime, which has been under increasing pressure from the resistance forces.
The acting president praised the continued support from the people and the relentless efforts of the revolutionaries and allied forces. He emphasized that despite the challenges, the revolution remains strong and determined. Shila’s comments reflect the ongoing commitment of the National Unity Government to resist military rule and work towards democratic change in Myanmar.
Shila also noted that the defeat of the Military Council in 2024 represents a major turning point, with the regime facing an uncertain future. The loss of control over crucial regions and the growing strength of resistance forces signal a shift in the balance of power, further weakening the military’s hold on the country.
As Myanmar continues to grapple with political instability, the National Unity Government remains focused on its goal of restoring democracy and holding the Military Council accountable for its actions.
