An official from the 18th Battalion of the Shwebo District-Revolutionary Forces Without Borders reported a successful operation against a military column in Sagaing Region. The attack, which took place on January 5 in Unnai Bok Village, Wetlet Township, led to the death of over 20 soldiers from the notorious 33rd Division and the capture of three soldiers along with their weapons and ammunition.
The confrontation began when approximately 70 soldiers from the 33rd Division, based in Sagaing Township, invaded Unnai Bok Village. Reports indicate that the troops were looting public property, a frequent tactic used to instill fear and control. In response, the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) launched a counterattack, engaging the military in a fierce five-hour battle.
According to the PDF, the operation was strategically executed to protect local communities and disrupt the military council’s oppressive activities. The capture of three soldiers and the recovery of their weapons mark a significant victory for the revolutionary forces.
This clash highlights the ongoing resistance in Sagaing Region, a stronghold of the revolutionary forces. The success of such operations underscores the growing strength and coordination among resistance groups as they continue their fight for democracy and justice in Myanmar.
